Apply For A California Seller’s Permit

Use California Department of Tax and Fee Administration’s secure online registration system to obtain a valid seller’s permit. Vendors whose permanent place of business is in California need CA seller’s permit. Out of state vendors are required to hold a temporary seller’s permit. They will need to register each temporary sales location at least 3 weeks in advance. On the other hand, if they already hold a seller’s permit for a permanent place of business but also make sales at a temporary location, they will not need to register for a separate temporary seller’s permit. Instead, they must register for a sub-permit for each of their temporary locations.
